what is an emergency and what can wait

I have followed the work of Doctors without Borders (MSF) for many years now. Fast forward two days ago and MSF reported that they had lost three doctors and their families were trapped amidst the fire in the Gaza strip at the last standing hospital due to the ongoing Palestinian-Israeli war. We are at an all time low as humanity if we cannot stop fighting to let medical personnel take care of the wounded. Even in both world war I and II there would be a ceasefire to allow Red Cross vehicles to drive through to save the wounded.

We are so inundated with information in a literal hour that we get angry over an issue for such a short while before we easily and in the same swipe move on to the next reel about bears. (I love bear reels and the algorithm knows this.) When the Gaza attack happened on October 7th, it was easy to change profile pictures, be up in arms about the bloodshed however after a week or two things started dying down while medical personnel continue to die as they try to reach the injured. There is so much information we are receiving that it has become almost impossible to pay attention to what is actually an emergency and what can wait. The hard and important work of being a digital critic and knowing where to pay your valuable currency of attention may be what may save humanity in the face of information overwhelm.
